Post-soviet Kazakhstan Kazakhstan is a crucially important country in Central Asia. It is the second largest republic of the former Soviet Union, after the Russian Federation, regional asia kazakhstan and has rich natural resources, particularly oil, which is being exploited through massive US investment. This book presents an overview of post-Soviet Kazakhstan, focusing in particular on the attempts to build a national state.
